Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! In art class, we will brainstorm many ideas before working on many new art projects using various media such as: clay, paint, watercolors, markers, crayons, colored-pencils, and mixed media (combining two or more supplies).

In art, we will discuss famous artists, their artwork, and different time periods in the history of art. In addition, we learn about art theory- the unique elements (form, line, color, space, texture, value, and shape) and some of the principles (rhythm, balance, contrast, proportion, gradation, harmony, variety, and movement) of art.

Furthermore, we will learn about the differences between a landscape, portrait and still life! I look forward to many fun and productive art classes with each and every one of my students! This year there will be no art room at the E.M. Burke School, I will be going from class to class using a cart to bring supplies into each classroom. Bellmawr Park has an art room upstairs in room 22.

I graduated from Glassboro State College (now known as Rowan University) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education. I started my teaching career in 1979.  Prior to working at Burke, Bellmawr Park and Crescent Park Elementary Schools, I worked at Audubon Jr./Sr. High School in Audubon, NJ teaching a course called, "Creative Skills" for 7th and 8th graders and Art 1 and Art 11 for 9th and 10th graders.

I have two children, Michael and Ally, that I love very much and am extremely proud of; they are ages 27 and 31, respectively.  I also have a sweet, energetic miniature poodle named Mackie.

Check out my website for information regarding art exhibits, and art classes in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I also have websites that would also be of interest.

Artfully Yours,
Mrs. Cometz
